Abstract

Poverty has been a relevant window in the social research of the years and the weight of the apparent intuitive clarity of the term has not been easy to establish in what it consists only in its dimensions and dimensions. Despite this, its measurement has focused on quantitative measures based on insufficient income and other deficiencies; that, if the poor are allowed to be determined and classified, they leave aside the subjective and symbolic aspects that operate in their appearance, reproduction, and diversification. From this diagnostic point, this article tries to show some theoretical advances to observe the distinctions among the poor. The review carried out allows us to recognize that the cultural dimensions and symbolic limits operate as borders between the statistically poor affected population, which would differentially affect the use of available opportunities located within the same socio-economic stratum.
