Abstract

Abstract: This article presents the results of a Systematic Literature Review (SLR). Its main objective is to identify the methodological approaches towards the issue of women’s self- identification of feminism, utilizing the WoS database, through the use of the descriptors feminism identity, feminist identification, and feminism, in articles published between 2015 and 2020. The results yielded a total of 12 articles: 6 from the quantitative paradigm, 4 from the qualitative, and 2 from the mixed approach. The quantitative studies used surveys that, for the most part, included adapted scales dating from the 1990s, associated with liberal feminism; while the articles with a qualitative approach, even though they presented a greater variety in terms of methodology, showed deficiencies when explaining the design and technique of data collection. The need to use mixed studies to overcome the limitations of qualitative and quantitative approaches is concluded in order to update measurement instruments and improve the methodological rigor. Therefore, by using a mixed approach it is possible to obtain a broader and more detailed look at the characteristics of women's identification with feminism, late in the 21st century.
