Abstract

El presente art?culo plantea una reflexi?n en torno al concepto de salud mental propuesto por el?Ministerio de Salud en el documento Estrategia Nacional de Salud Mental: Un Salto Adelante. Propuesta?para una Construcci?n Colectiva. Se propone una lectura cr?tica de dicho documento a fin de dar cuenta?de los supuestos epistemol?gicos que se encontrar?an a la base del concepto de salud mental, que no?quedan claramente explicitados pero que determinan no s?lo la manera en que dicho concepto es construido,?sino tambi?n la serie de pol?ticas p?blicas que se plantean en torno a su conceptualizaci?n. En?torno a ello, se sugiere como parte de la metodolog?a utilizada, considerar y explicitar los valores y creencias?de quienes realizan la investigaci?n, o las condiciones de espacio-tiempo en las que dicha investigaci?n?se genera, a fin de concebir constructos te?ricos verdaderamente representativos de las problem?ticas?que se busca aprehender

The present article proposes a reflection on the concept of mental health as proposed by the?Ministry of Health in the document Mental Health National Strategy: A Jump Ahead. Proposal for a Collective?Construction. A critical review of this document is proposed, in order to give an account of the?epistemological assumptions that underlie the concept of mental health, which are not clearly specified?in the document but will undoubtedly influence not only the way this concept is built but also the public?policy implications derived from this conceptualization. As part of the methodology used for the construction?of this concept, it is suggested to consider and make explicit the series of values and beliefs of those?who conduct the investigation, or the space and time conditions in which the investigation is generated,?so as to conceive truly representative theoretical constructions of the problems seek to achieve.
