CAMBIO E INTERVENCIÓN ORGANIZACIONAL DESDE LA PERSPECTIVA SOCIOPOIÉTICA / Organizational change and intervention from the socio-poietic perspective

Abstract

En este artículo relacionamos la epistemología constructivista con la teoría de los sistemas sociales inspirada en la tradición luhmanniana. Desde esas perspectivas destacamos a las comunicaciones de decisiones como las operaciones constitutivas de las organizaciones, en tanto que a través de éstas se definen sus fines, los criterios de pertenencia de sus miembros, la configuración de sus entornos, los medios con que procesan riesgos e incertidumbres, sus estructuraciones y posibilidades de cambios, tanto espontáneos como planificados. Este enfoque, que denominamos sociopoiético, conducirá nuestra discusión sobre las distintas dimensiones del fenómeno organizacional, incluyendo sus posibilidades de intervención en función de su fortalecimiento o desarrollo.

In this paper, we establish a relationship between the constructivist epistemology and the social systems theory as developed from Luhmann’s ideas. From these perspectives, we highlight that decisional communications are constitutive organizational operations, since by these communications the members of the organization define their goals and belonging criteria; configure the organizational environment; and the means by which they address risks, uncertainties, structuring processes, and their chances of changing. This approach, which we call sociopoietic, leads our discussion about the various dimensions of the organizational phenomenon, including the possibilities of intervention aimed at organizational strengthening or development.
