RESILIENCIA COMUNITARIA Y SU VINCULACIÓN AL CONTEXTO LATINOAMERICANO ACTUAL / Community resilience and its relationship to the current Latin American context
Main Article Content
Abstract
While first notions of resilience had considered it as an innate characteristic situated within individuals, the Latin American context has tried to expand its approach towards a community level, in recent decades. Community resilience is related to the transformation of adversity into personal, relational and collective growth by strengthening the social commitment and the development of new relationships. Thus, the purpose of this paper is to contribute to the discussion on resilience, by considering it a perspective that gives a valuable framework for understanding issues related to political and social crises as well as catastrophes and natural disasters that may affect the development of a community.
