Abstract
El presente artículo analiza las asociaciones entre capital cultural y rendimiento académico en 169 estudiantes de Medicina y Tecnología Médica de la Universidad San Sebastián. Mediante diferentes estrategias de análisis bivariado, se encontró que 16 variables mostraron relaciones estadísticamente significativas. Al analizar la fuerza de correlación de cada una de ellas con el rendimiento académico, 8 mostraron mediana robustez: nivel de estudios del padre, nivel de estudios de la madre, número de viajes al extranjero, tipo de colegio, promedio de notas de enseñanza media, puntaje PSU lenguaje, puntaje PSU matemáticas y promedio puntaje PSU total.
The present research analyzes linkages between cultural capital and academic performance in a sample of 169 students of medicine and medical technology of the Universidad San Sebastian. Through different strategies of bivariate analysis, it was found that 16 variables showed statistically significant relationships. Analyzing the strength of correlation of each of them with academic performance, 8 showed medium robustness: father educational level, mother educational level, number of trips abroad, school type, secondary education grades average, language PSU score, mathematics PSU score and average score PSU overall.
