Abstract
Las personas en situación de calle se han visto recientemente beneficiadas por una política social pública en Chile. A pesar, que hace algún tiempo, han existido acciones en su favor, estas han surgido desde la sociedad civil, ONGs o voluntariado que han desarrollado acciones más o menos organizadas y sistemáticas lo que les ha permitido ir acumulando un grado de expertos en la materia, de la cual el Estado ha podido beneficiarse. Por su parte, el rol del profesional Trabajador Social ha estado relacionado al tema en diversos aspectos, incluyendo la aportación en la generación de la política social, hasta en la ejecución de los programas, trabajando directamente en la calle con las personas, lo que ha ido perfilando a un profesional con competencias genéricas que le permite enfrentar su labor.
Recently, homeless people have been benefited from public social policy in Chile. Although for some time there have been actions in their favor, they have emerged from civil society, NGOs or voluntary actions that have developed more or less organized and systematic, allowing them to accumulate a level of expertise in the field, from which the State has benefited. In terms of the professional role of the social worker, it has been involved in a variety of aspects, including the generation of social policy, the implementation of programs, the direct work on the streets with homeless individuals, among others, all of which have been outlining a professional profile with generic skills to conduct the work.
