Abstract
El presente art?culo describe algunas variables relacionadas con el entorno familiar en los estudiantes de Medicina y Tecnolog?a M?dica de la Universidad San Sebasti?n, sede Concepci?n. La obtenci?n de los datos fue a trav?s de una encuesta de auto-reporte, previamente validada por jueces expertos. Los resultados arrojan un claro predominio de alumnos que provienen de hogares biparentales, donde principalmente el padre es el jefe de hogar y donde, aproximadamente un tercio de los padres ?padre y madre-, poseen estudios universitarios, desenvolvi?ndose en igual proporci?n en una actividad acorde con su profesi?n. La frecuencia de conversaci?n de los alumnos con sus padres es a lo menos una por d?a y, en un alto porcentaje, logran percibir el apoyo de sus padres en lo relativo a sus estudios. El rendimiento promedio de los alumnos cursado su primer semestre universitario es un 4,8, nota que seg?n el Reglamento de Docencia de la Universidad, es considerado como ?suficiente?.
This article describes some of the family related variables from Medicine and Technological Medicine students from Universidad San Sebastian, Concepcion Campus. Data was gathered through a self-reporting survey, previously validated by expert judges. The results show a majority of students come from two parent homes, in which the father is usually the head of the household. Approximately a third possess university studies, with about an equal proportion working in their related fields. The study showed that students on average talk to their parents at least once a day, and a high percentage of them receive support from their parents in their studies. The mean grade point average of students in their first semester is 4.8, which under university guidelines is considered as ?sufficient?.
